Going dark

Well, I'm posting from Panera, which also happens to be where I am trying to do my homework. Why you ask? Because the basement is now off limits and my wireless connection is somewhere down there - unplugged.

Here are the main points:

There is black mold down there. (It looks black, I don't know if it's actually THE black mold.)

I have learned about adjusters and mitigation teams and mold doctors and blah, blah, blah...

I am actively holding my hands over my ears with my eyes closed and singing something along the lines of "la la la la". I will stop when somebody tells me something fantastic, like "it's all taken care of and we've decided to cover all of it".

I will post again when we are back up at the house.

Moral of the story (i.e. What I learned from this valuable life experience): DON'T DO LAUNDRY. BAD THINGS HAPPEN.

Back soon.

Water World

Today I thought I'd be super productive and delve into some mid-week laundry. I was home, writing a paper and I thought I'd multi-task. Because I'm fancy like that.

So I popped in a load and ran an errand and came back home. And I went to throw the clothes in the dryer and then I noticed something.

THERE WAS A POOL WHERE MY LAUNDRY ROOM USED TO BE.

So I was muttering some choice words, which I won't type because sometimes I'm shy. And then I tried to see where the water was coming from. I didn't see it, so much as I heard it from the washer area. And the washer was just running water, although curiously there was no water in the washer - just wet clothes. So I shut the machine off manually, cranked the water lines off and then I grabbed a towel and called my husband - while I was standing in at least an inch of water.

That's what I call re-prioritizing. And yes, in case you were wondering, it totally included beer.

2 to 1

I've talked before about how much River totally favors his Dad. But I really haven't said much about Hunter and Meadow, except to say that they favor me for most things which has its pros and cons.

And then Mike relayed the following conversations he had with each kid:

Mike: I've got medicine for you right here.

Hunter: Are you sure I'm supposed to have two?

Mike: Yes.

Hunter: Would Mom think so?

*hee hee hee*

Mike: Come here and let me comb your hair.

Meadow: Are you allowed to comb my hair?

*huge belly laughs*

So, if you're keeping score - that's one for him and two for me.

Because I am totally competitive like that.

Dude Airport - Bud Light - Extended Version

I've got tons of schoolwork, so I'm phoning in this post. But seriously, I love these commercials. I saw this one the other day when I forgot I was watching The Daily Show on the DVR. For once, I was glad I didn't miss the commercials. THAT is a fortunate accident. Anyway, enjoy.

It's a good thing he's cute

I call this series : "Why River Is NOT My Friend."

In case this isn't clear - he's trying to fill the cup he just spilled from where it's dripping. Because apparently when he dumped it over he wasn't really aware how that would impact his thirst.
I've been spotted... I should smile.
But I'm thirsty so I'm just going to get a little more milk.
He is soooo not my friend.
Does anybody know how to make a lazy susan corner cabinet childproof?
See how he tries to lay on the charm.*(&%! He gets me every time.
Duuuuuude.

Evolution of a mess

So I'm busy studying. Learning lots of stuff about various chemical reactions different drugs can undergo - both in the lab and in the body. Do you know how many things you can do to morphine and it will still work - maybe even better??!! FASCINATING stuff, right? Anyhoo, I look up to see my adorable toddler with two things from DIFFERENT childproof areas. He's poured all of the Cheerios into our colander. Instead of freaking out, I decided to take pictures.

Clearly he fears us not.
If I could provide a sound effect it would be something like this: "aaamph"
Is there a problem lady?
I've got toons to watch and cheerios to eat.
Hmmm. Tasty and fun to play with.
Here we go!
Ahhhhhhhhhhh!
I'm going to get every last one off of here.
The mess.
Using the colander to access the next thing he probably shouldn't be touching. Note the remorse written all over his face.
Yup. That's how we roll.

Things I never could have imagined I would say...

"We DO NOT call one another butt knuckles."

Seriously people. Who makes this stuff up?

Front Tooth Part Deux

"Mom, it won't come out."

"Can I pull it?"

"No."

"Okay. Keep working on it then."

"But it hurts."

"Then leave it alone."

"But it's gross. What if I swallow it?"

"Then we'll leave the tooth fairy a note. I'm sure she'll understand."

"But I want it out."

"So do you want me to pull it?"

"No."

"Then you're going to have to wait or keep working on it."

"But I want it out NOW."

"And I wanted to take a bath by myself, but here we both are..."

"MO-OM!"

***********************************************************************

Here's what it looked like.
SEEEEEE
Contemplating Mom pulling it out. Reading a magazine seemed a better choice.
Deciding to go back to work.
Working...
Success!
Here it is!
Yep, that's it.
All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth...
Cheese!

Happy Easter

Long overdue

Hey there.

Well, I'm finally posting pictures. Although it seems I've mostly taken pictures of Meadow lately.

Not all that much is new here. The kids are, well kids. We had parent teacher conferences last week and nobody's grounded. So that's cool.

Mike and I both had our birthdays in the last two weeks. You know, we got older. Woo-hoo.

Meadow's other front tooth is threatening to come out soon. Hopefully it will come soon and I can post some more bloody pictures.

On to the pictures...

River
Mom put this stupid thing on my head to re-create cute pictures the camera ate.
This is what he thinks of the headband.
This is how you'll find Hunter most days.
She's waiting for her nails to dry.
Dollar area make-up gone so very wrong.
And again.
I showed her the pictures.
Waiting for the Easter bunny.

Do you think he'll leave me chocolate?
Good thing the Easter bunny doesn't work like Santa...

Happy Easter!

Hello there

This last week was LONG. School was really busy and my brain is taking a break. So I will post pictures of the kids sometime this week, but not today.

Here are a few random bits I overheard from the kids this week:

"You are totally blowing my cover dude!"

"If we don't get home soon, my platter [bladder] is going to EXPLODE!"

"I don't want you to bite my arm. Get out of my space NOW."

"He's LICKING me!"

It's never dull here.

I'll leave you with a picture of one of my favorite things...

More to come soon.

Birthday Flowers

These arrived early for my birthday from my parents.
Thank you! They're beautiful.
