Hungry lions

What a week...

First, my Grandpa passed away this week. I feel really fortunate that he and my Uncle David and Aunt Diana got to meet Mike and Hunter and Meadow the weekend we moved to Colorado. He is loved and will be missed.

On to more tedious matters - the Norovirus has been here. All three kids were sick at some point during the week. Poor Mike was a victim too. I've been bleaching and washing hands like crazy and just keep hoping it will end without getting me too. The Health Department called because they were considering closing the daycare due to an outbreak. Icky. We're doing better now I think. Now I need to catch up on regular laundry. Overall, gross.

Rethinking that whole wishing for the Red Sox thing... Hope Game 4 goes a different way. We still love the Rockies and are just waiting to go on a run!

Looking forward to Monday night - Broncos v. Packers. It'll be a little sad to have to beat Brett Favre, but it must be done. The Broncos looked so much better last week! We just have to keep it going. (Yes, I said we. Wearing gear totally puts us on the payroll and absolutely makes a difference.)

As for today, our first pumpkin got moldy so we're carving 2 more today. We love pumpkin seeds, so we should get quite a few! Meadow's got ballet practice later on this afternoon. She's got extra weekend practices for the Nutcracker every weekend until the performance in December. I also agreed that we'd try to make peanut butter cookies for Hunter this weekend, so I need to make that happen sometime today. Oh, and I have an exam tomorrow I need to study for... I'm so glad the Broncos are on tomorrow so I can actually watch the game!

We went to Aunt Lori's annual Halloween party last night. Before we left for the party we snapped some pictures of the kids in their costumes.

This is the only picture I could get all 3 in at the same time. The lion is a wanderer.
This was a night we had fruit cobbler after dinner.
Hunter and Meadow
Meadow. (She did that pose and said take one like this!)
Hunter
A hungry lion must struggle for food...

He can't yet open the refrigerator and must seek other sources...
He's found some prey...
He's almost there...

Success!

After succeeding once, he contemplates attacking again...

The prey seems alarmed earlier this time around.

Have a great week and a safe Halloween!

A little more snow...

Here are a few more pictures of the snow. We didn't really get that much, but it's enough for the kids to beg for snow cream. I hope it doesn't all melt until at least tomorrow. At any rate, we're loving it!

This is the railing off the deck, at the bottom you can see the satellite dish. At least I've got easy access. I'm not much of a roof climber. I think this is it - we're still getting tiny flurries, but nothing substantial.
The tree in the front yard.
My favorite tree in the backyard yesterday.
The red tree today.
Parting shots:

We're rooting for the Red Sox tonight so the Rockies get more attention when they win the World Series.

We're hoping the Broncos found themselves during the bye week and that they beat the Steelers tonight.

I've got to go study!

It's Snowing!!!

Yesterday it was 80 degrees. They were forcasting snow today so we took down the gazebo cover. Two years ago we lost a gazebo to an October storm that dropped a foot of snow. Anyway, I took a couple of pictures yesterday and then I've taken a couple this morning. (I was outside anyway, I've been pouring water over the dish periodically as snow accumulates - ahhh, the joys of satellite tv...) If we get significant snow, I'll take more pictures later in the day. The flakes are huge and pretty wet!

Gazebo area, yesterday.
Gazebo, this morning.
One of the backyard trees yesterday - the wind was strong.
The same tree this morning.
Saber went home yesterday, but I snapped him in his hiding place before he went home.
Have a great day! Go Broncos!

Go Rockies!!!

I have a lot of studying to do this weekend so this will have to be short and sweet. We are excited for the Rockies - the World Series - that's amazing!

Everybody is staying healthy and looking forward to Halloween. River will be a lion. Hunter wants to be some red Pokemon whose name escapes me (haven't yet located the costume). Meadow is going to repeat last year and will be a snow princess.

Here are a few pictures.....

Meadow shows her love for the Rockies. Hunter has love for the Rockies, not so much for being photographed.
Team spirit.
No one believes he gives crusties. Proof.
Mugging for the camera 2 seconds later.

Random thoughts

Back to reality tomorrow - I have a project due before midnight. At any rate, this should be the last post until the weekend.

Amanda flew in to town today so we're all excited to spend time with her. The kids couldn't wait to see her after we picked them up from school.

Mike wanted me to post a picture of his "pig". He bought it for when it snows. During the blizzard last year he pulled lots of people out of the snow. It's his favorite winter toy. Hunter was trying to give me a picture, but his game was just too interesting.
5 seconds before the picture above.
Mike and Meadow working on homework. She had a lot to finish tonight before she could go see Aunt Amanda.
Little dude loves bathtime!

That's all for now - GO ROCKIES!

Sabertooth

A few pictures for Saber's parents since they are out of town.

Saber - annoyed that I've woken him for a picture. Still pretty curious about why he's not napping.
Who is the crazy lady with the camera - seriously.
If I give you a good shot, will you leave me alone?
The new favorite spot when they hear neighborhood noises.
See you soon!

Sunday

I found the camera! The batteries were dead (of course), so I charged them and took some pictures this afternoon. I'm going to try and figure out how to put captions near the pictures today.

It's cold here so we're staying in and watching football. Looking forward to the Patriots game coming up here in a few minutes. Mike is experimenting with a new pork green chili recipe - so far it smells good.

The kids have been asking for pumpkin pie for a few weeks so we're going to make one when I'm done with this post.

I'm loving not having homework this weekend - or at least homework that has to be done right away. Once the normal schedule resumes I won't post as often. My goal will be once a week.

This is Meadow posing with "Buddy". He's creepy, but I think he's their favorite Halloween decoration. River's p.j. feet are a tad long.
She's soooooo shy. (Please, no pictures!)
Meadow's favorite ballet pose. This is Saber, he's Lola's best friend. We're babysitting. He's looks homesick, but he likes it here.
This is the only picture where Hunter wasn't turning his face away or putting his hand in front of the camera. Apparently it's funny to thwart your Mom at every turn.
River was very excited to have his picture taken.
Have a good one!

Photo album

So I've tried a couple of places to upload a photo album. Ugh. Please disregard the MSN post below, you'll get no where. The link on the right hand side of the page will take you to where you can view some pics without signing up for anything. Enjoy!

Saturday

So I think I'm starting to get the hang of this. Except I can't get captions near the pictures. Oh well. Learning curve I guess. Also, it's become apparent that I need to take some new pictures of the kids and get them into the computer in a timely fashion. I should probably find the camera first.

Basic family update:
Hunter is loving third grade and is excited that Super Mario Galaxy is coming out next month for the Wii. He's also reached the age where he thinks his parents are irritating and he rolls his eyes a lot.

Meadow loves ballet and first grade (in that order). She has auditioned for the Nutcracker and will be a Big Mouse in Act 1 and then some kind of candy that will emerge from underneath Mother Ginger's skirt (with 3 other girls) somewhere in Act 2. She usually thinks we're okay, but is starting to get the eye rolling disease too.
River is one of the fastest toddlers I've ever seen! We've nicknamed him "little taz" because he leaves a trail of destruction behind him and he's impossible to corral. Luckily, he still thinks we're cool - except when we say the dirtiest word to any toddler - No.
I've got a rare break from school - I've got Monday and Tuesday off! Mike took the week off so we're going to spend some kid-free time together early next week. (What's that?!)

Friday night - trying to figure this thing out

Please bear with me. I'm trying to figure out how this all works.

I love how easy it is to feel connected to family that lives far away through their blogs, so I feel compelled to make some attempt at starting one for my family. I won't post every day, but I'll try once a week.

This is under construction for now - check back soon!
